Well, first off, I want to thank everyone again for re-electing me as Howell High School TSA Chapter Reporter. As I have been re-elected, this page will continue to run and be updated for at least one more year (since I have no way of knowing what will happen to it next year). This year, I have added a new resource that can be used to receive news and alerts concerning Howell TSA.
This new resource is Facebook. I have just created a Howell TSA Page on Facebook for those who want to receive updates through there. It will be run hand-in-hand along with the Twitter account to give you alerts as quickly as possible. So, if you don't have a Twitter account, but would still like to receive text alerts, you can now do so using the Facebook page, by clicking the "Subscribe via SMS" link. By subscribing that way, you will be receiving the same alerts that you would, had you been following HowellTSA on Twitter.
Also, don't forget that the YouTube Account will continue to be updated as well, and I still have some videos from nationals last year, I was planning on putting up there still, as well.
So, here's to another successful year of Howell High School TSA!

iPhone/iPod Touch + Cell Phone Alerts
One of the many new ways I plan to keep everyone informed is through a new social networking site called "Twitter". This is one of those site's that you go on to find out what you're friends are up to. But I am going to be using it to manage our Howell TSA cell phone alerts. However, Twitter is also now compatible with iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPod Touch, and the 2nd Generation iPod Touch. And so, this guide will show you how to configure Twitter for these devices.
The 1st step is download Twitter on your device. So first, from the main menu, select the "App Store", and tap the Search button on the bottom.

The 1st step is download Twitter on your device. So first, from the main menu, select the "App Store", and tap the Search button on the bottom.

You should now be on a screen that looks somewhat similar to what you see above. From here, type "Twitter" in the search bar.

From here, you will be asked if you have an Twitter Account, if not, you will have to create one from Twitter.com. This can also be done from your device. After that, simply go to:
Twitter.com/HowellTSA and "Follow HowellTSA". And now, you're all setup to receive alerts from Twitter on your iPhone or iPod Touch. Alerts will NOT be sent out during normal school hours.

From the search results that appear, select the one called "Twitterific". From the search results that appear.

This application is entirely free, so you will be able to download it without having charge. However, you are required to have an iTunes Music Store Account in order to download Twitterific. You can make an iTunes Account by downloading the latest release of iTunes on your Mac or PC. Also, upon installation you will be prompted for your iTunes Music Store password.
After installation, press the Home button on your device, and select Twitterific.

2008-2009 Howell High School TSA Chapter
Hello, everyone!
And welcome back to another year of Howell High School TSA!
As I was re-elected chapter reporter last meeting this page will continue to function, as it did last year. But I have made many changes since last year!
However, as it is a new year, everyone who was previously subscribed to the Howell TSA Newsletter was removed from the list, and the sign-in sheet from our last meeting (which took place on Tuesday, September 23, 2008) will be used to rebuild the TSA newsletter e-mail list.
I have also made many new advancements and changes to the site, newsletter, and blog since last year. First of all, there are now more ways than ever to be updated on everything going on in the Howell TSA chapter. I will be making another post here within the next few days detailing many of the new methods of staying informed.
Some of these new features include:
Also, all of the raw footage I shot from the 2008 TSA Nationals from Orlando, Florida are now viewable on our Howell TSA YouTube Channel, as previously posted. However, I am also almost finished making a highlight reel of the trip using the footage.
An archive of all the posts from last year has been made and can be viewed here.

Why did I make this page black?
Well, it has recently been proven that computer monitors require more energy to produce white displays than black displays, so in an effort to save electrical power, we have decided to make the Howell TSA Chapter site black.
Even though the energy savings are small, it will add up to to a lot of savings over time. Not to mention that black pages also cause less irritation on the eyes.
Other sites on the internet have also taken notice of this, by making their pages black. One such site known as Blackle, features a Google Search with a predominantly black background. And this site has already had an estimated 248,596.864 Watt hours of energy conserved so far, (as of 10/12/2007) and counting!
